New Belgium’s revival and newly released 2015 beers are a must

If you haven’t already, you should check out the latest from one of Fort Collins’ biggest craft breweries. New Belgium recently released two new beers and brought back a fan favorite that have slowly been taking over taps all over northern Colorado.

Chances are good you’ve seen these three on store shelves or tap handles at your favorite watering hole. And if you’ve held off on trying them, you’re really missing out!

Let us introduce to you Portage and Slow Ride, and reintroduce you to Porch Swing.

As winter moves a long the desire for those strong heavy stouts dissipates along with the cold weather. Enter Portage. With aromas of chocolate and nutty almonds, and flavor that is on the slightly sweet side, you’ve now found a beer that helps ease your transition to the lighter beer months.

As the temperatures inevitably rise outdoors those heavy hitting stouts will begin to hibernate to make way for lighter, easy sipping beers like Slow Ride, a session IPA. Recent trends have ABVs (alcohol by volume) falling this year and at 4.5%, Slow Ride is no exception. This tropical IPA is concocted using 8 different hop varieties, perfectly balanced, and created to be extra refreshing.

And if you’re picking up a Folly Pack, you’ll soon find an old friend, Porch Swing, mixed in with your other New Belgium faves. If you haven’t had this one before, you’ll want to find it while it lasts. A single ale, that pours a perfect golden color and has a perfectly light body, is best sipped on while escaping from your daily grind.porchswing_l

Keep your eyes open for these and give them a try when you have a chance, you won’t be mad about it that’s for sure.

New Belgium’s bike-in movie nights are back!

For the last 10 years New Belgium has hosted their very own Bike-in Cinema and this year is no different!

Gather with friends and family on blankets or in chairs and catch a film just out the front doors of their Mothership.  While we are lucky enough to have one of the few operational drive-in theaters left in the nation, this bike-in cinema in a whole new experience that you must try.  You’ll be sipping a beer under the stars with fellow bike riders, taking in a film, while enjoying the warm Colorado summer night. What a magnificent evening!

This summer’s lineup is as follows:

  • Aug. 21st – Ratatouille
  • Aug. 28th – The Breakfast Club & Whensday (DOUBLE FEATURE!)
  • Sept. 4th – Stand By Me
  • Sept. 11th – Ghostbusters

The gates open up at 7pm each night before the showing with the film starting at dusk.  Entrance to the event is only $2/person and beers will $4, with the proceeds benefiting the non-profit organization, Wolverine Farm Publishing.  That being said, leave your beers at home and have one at the show to help support their organization!

Remember to ride safe, and bring your bike lights for the ride home.

Bring on Fort Collins Beer Week!

Join breweries, restaurants, and businesses May 11th – May 18th for Fort Collins Beer Week!  The weeklong event, coinciding with American Craft Beer Week, is meant to cultivate and ignite relationships between the community and its brewers.

The Colorado Brewers Guild and Fortified Collaborations have come together to put on this amazing event, planning beer dinners, tastings, tours, and even a Brewers Olympics!

Things will get started Sunday, May 11th with the Opening Night Bash at Tony’s Bar and Rooftop, which has seen recent renovations and has a new chef working up some great things in the kitchen.  This ticketed event ($20) taking place from 5pm-8pm will feature hors d’oeuvres, great local beer options, and live music from “The Waido Experience” starting at 6pm.  Plus you receive a commemorative FCBW glass and two drink tickets!

That is just the tip of the iceberg, as restaurants, bars, and businesses all over Fort Collins are getting in on the action offering up daily and weeklong specials.  Places like Jax Fish House, Town Pump, Choice City Butcher and Deli, and many more local favorites will be hosting a variety of deals and events to help celebrate this community building celebration.
