It’s always great to hear about events that benefit a charitable cause! The Child Advocacy Center Bocce Event on Aug. 8 does exactly that. This annual event brings together community members for an afternoon of bocce ball, delicious food and fellowship, all while raising funds for the Larimer County Child Advocacy Center, which aids children and families who have been victimized by child abuse.
Festivities begin at 2 p.m. when teams of four players compete in a friendly game of bocce ball, a low-exertion Italian ball sport. The winning team receives a prize of $500, not to mention bragging rights. Non-players are also welcome and can enjoy live music from Kurt Humann, bid at the silent auction, and of course treat themselves to Italian cuisine provided by Carrabba’s.
The event will be held at the Child Advocacy Center in Fort Collins, 5529 S. Timberline Rd. Participants are encouraged to park at the PVH Harmony Campus on Timberline and Harmony and take a shuttle to the Center due to limited parking. Bocce ball teams (fun team t-shirts are welcome!) must purchase tickets and register online prior to the tournament, but non-playing attendees may purchase tickets at the door.
