Last week was a big week for breweries and brewpubs from all over the world, and especially busy for all of them located in Colorado, as the Craft Brewer’s Conference took over the state.

At the same time the World Beer Cup held its judging panel in Denver on April 7th and 8th, and boy did they have their work cut out for them.  Judges, from 31 different countries, sampled and analyzed beers from over 1,400 breweries and brewpubs.  That’s almost 600 more than the last competition in 2012!  A grand total of 4,754 different beers were entered into this year’s competition across 94 different categories.  Needless to say competition was at its toughest this year!

As brewery and brewpub staff swarmed Colorado, taking tours at local spots, attending seminars, and fun filled parties, most also waited anxiously to hear the 2014 winners that were announced on April 11th.  We are excited to share that some of our clients walked away with some hardware!

Boulder Beer celebrates turning 35 with an Imperial Black IPA!

Boulder Beer CompanyBoulder Beer 35th Anniversary Imperial Black IPA just spent the last week celebrating their 35th year of brewing, and what better way to celebrate than to release a new beer brewed just for the occasion!

This commemorative special release represents the bold, unique pioneering spirit that has been instilled in every aspect of Boulder Beer since day one.  Pouring a deep black color and giving off an intriguing hop aroma, this Imperial Black IPA follows with a smooth malt flavor and packs a punch at 9.5%abv/alc.  The limited-edition beer has been released in bottles, dipped in green wax and will don a stylish neck ringer that will share a bit of their history.

Known as Colorado’s first craft brewery, Boulder Beer Company was founded back in 1979 by two University of Colorado professors.  The original brew house was on a small farm in northeast Boulder and shared its space with goats.  Since then, Boulder Beer has expanded and moved to its current site, expanding its one barrel system to a 50 barrel system with top of the line packaging equipment.  Their original tasting room has now been converted into their full-menu pub which features one of Boulder’s best patios.

If you missed the release party over the weekend don’t worry, there is still some left.  You can still find it pouring at the pub, or if you’re lucky, you can find it at select liquor stores throughout Northern Colorado in 22oz. bombers!

Drink up and enjoy it while it lasts!
