Baseball is back and Coors Field has a new look!

Tour Coors Field

After five months off America’s favorite pastime is back in action, and what better way to celebrate than to kick off Opening Day at Coors Field!

While the Colorado Rockies beloved first baseman Todd Helton has hung up his cleats, there is still plenty to cheer for.  Fan favorites Michael Cuddyer, Carlos Gonzalez, Nolan Arenado, and Wilin Rosario, will be back in action again for the 2014 season.  And while new acquisition Justin Morneau has a big pair of shoes to fill at first base, he has lots of promise and the head office expects big things from him.  Let’s hope they can put it all together and make it back to the World Series in 2014!

If you are lucky enough to make it to Opening Day at Coors Field this year you’ll be part of the first crowd to experience the new renovations they made to right field during the off season.  Built in 1995, Coors Field is now the 13th oldest Major League Baseball stadium.  The renovation removed some seating from the upper deck in right field, and in their place is what is now known as “Rooftop”.  With a whopping 38,000 square feet, it is the largest rooftop deck in sports and will serve food and ice cold craft beverages at various concessions, eateries, and bars.  The Rooftop will open two hours prior to game time, and anyone with a ticket to that day’s game can access the party deck.

One of the eateries featured on the two tier party deck will be Oskar Blues’, CHUBurger.  We can’t think of anything better than enjoying a day (or night) at a ballpark, taking in panoramic views of the Front Range, and catching a Rockies win. Can you??  So head to Coors Field at some point this season, check out the Rooftop, grab a cold Coors or craft beer, and take it all in.  You won’t regret it!

One of the most scenic ballparks in America just got even better!

Zquila’s Bold Flavors Join Downtown

Picking a place to eat downtown just got that much harder.

Zquila Mexican Restaurant has now joined in the mix, giving us one more place to add to the list when deciding where to grab a burrito and a beer.  Lucky for us, we got an invite to check out the new digs before the official grand opening!  Zquila held two days of soft openings with a lunch and dinner session during each of the two days.  Each patron that was lucky enough to get an invite was able to order an entrée and soft drink of their choice on the house tab.  Clearly this was not an opportunity that we were going to pass up!

So a few of us stopped in for an early dinner on Tuesday to see what it was all about.  It was clear from the moment we walked in that they had paid attention to every detail, even the interior was amazing; we were in for a real treat.  After being greeted immediately by a more than pleasant staff, we sat down at our table and opened the menus.  Let’s just say that with 20 margaritas, over 40 tequilas and a wide variety of domestic and import beers it took us a minute (or two) to make our selection.  With drink decisions out of the way we turned our attention to the food menu which offers everything from enchiladas and tacos, to the Burrito Mignon and Zquila Caps (two choices we’d highly recommend!).

After four hours of great drinks, food packed with bold flavors, awesome service, and a lot of stories and laughter we called it a night.  It has already been decided that we’ll be making another visit soon, even if it’s just for their awesome early or late happy hour specials.  We’d highly recommend you check it out for yourself; they officially opened their doors for business today!

Big thanks to Zquila for the opportunity to check out the new place.  Welcome to the fun of Downtown Fort Collins!
