Show us your game face!

HCB - Game Face Contest401pxIn case you’ve been under a rock, or out of the state for a while (which shouldn’t really matter), the Denver Broncos made it to Super Bowl XLVIII!

We here at High Country Beverage can’t wait for February 2nd when the Broncos take on the Seattle Seahawks at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey!  Last making the trip to the Super Bowl in 1999, the Broncos look to bring another championship ring to Denver after a 15 year layoff.  Having beat Phillip Rivers and the San Diego Chargers in a close AFC Divisional Championship game, they followed it up with a 10 point victory over the New England Patriots in Denver last Sunday, securing their place in the 2014 Super Bowl.

While the Broncos prepare for the biggest NFL game of the year, the excitement continues to build in the air.  Orange and blue are taking over the state of Colorado, as practically every person, restaurant, and place of business, show their Bronco pride.  That being said, we are sure that many of you are beaming with team spirit and we want to reward you for showing your dedication to the Broncos!

Show us your game face!  Head over to our NoCo Nightlife Facebook page, “Like” us and find the link to the entry application.  Submit a picture showing us your best Denver Broncos game face and you could win a Coors Light leather chair (pictured above).  With a built in cooler that pulls out from under you, you’ll never have to leave your seat to grab another ice cold Coors Light, and surely won’t miss a play (or commercial)!

The lucky winner will be announced January 31st on the NoCo Nightlife Facebook page, so get your entry in sooner than later!  If you’re the winner we will contact you via the email address that you have provided, double check to make sure it’s all correct.  Best of luck to all of our entries!

Gearing up for the Rocky Mountain Showdown

As Labor Day weekend quickly approaches, it only means one thing, ok maybe it means a few things but either way the Rocky Mountain Showdown is upon us once again!

In years past the debate between participating in the widely popular Tour de Fat put on by New Belgium and attending the biggest football rivalry in Colorado has been a big issue for many.  Well this year they got the scheduling right and you won’t have to pick and choose!  The Rocky Mountain Showdown will be taking place at Sports Authority Field at Mile High on Sunday, September 1st at 4pm.

Both the Colorado State University Rams and the University of Colorado Buffaloes have had this day marked on their calendars since they met last year, when the Rams came out on top with the 22-17 win.  Players, alumni and football fans in general have seen this rivalry go back and forth over the last few years and it’s sure to be a hard fought game again this year.  So, we suggest taking the time to enjoy this in-state rivalry that dates back to 1893 no matter who you’re cheering for.

We know that some of you have been planning your game days plans for weeks if not months now.  Whether it’s getting to the parking lot early to claim your favorite tailgate spot or showing up early at your favorite sports bar to get the best spot in front of the big screen, it’s a great day to share a cold beer with friends (maybe even an enemy).  Beer sure to pack the cooler with plenty of beers for you and your tailgating companions, running out would be a rookie mistake.  Also, many locations will be running game day drink specials all across the state so be sure to ask your server or bartender if you go out!

Don’t forget to plan ahead and have a sober means of transportation if you are partaking in beers and libations.

Broncos Playoff Plans

For the second year in a row the Denver Broncos have successfully made it to the NFL Playoffs! After finishing the season 13-3 (10-2 in conference play), they are looking pretty good this year.  Bronco’s fans everywhere are filled with anticipation as the weekend quickly approaches and orange and blue floods the streets.  Riding an 11 game winning streak going into Saturday afternoon’s game there is plenty at stake, so we hope you’ve cleared your schedule to plant yourself in front of a TV to catch the game.

Picture it now, it’s just before 2:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, you’re sitting in your living room with your closest Broncos fans (Ravens fans might need to find a place of their own), you’ve made the perfect 7-layer dip, and the wings are in the oven.  Now it’s time to grab an ice cold Coors Banquet or a Miller High Life.  Or maybe for the big game you splurged a bit and picked up something special like Lagunitas or New Belgium’s Heavenly Feijoa (one of their newest beers added to their Lips of Faith Series).  It’s time for kick off and you’ve secured your lucky seat on the couch, now watch as Peyton and Company fight their way to the Super Bowl.

We know there are tons of great places to watch the game at around Northern Colorado, and so does everyone else.  So we suggest getting an early start to your day and heading to your favorite bar or restaurant to make sure you’ve got the best seat in the house.  Places like Steakout Saloon, Trailhead Tavern, Lucky Joe’s and Black Bottle Brewery the good seats will go fast.  Ryan’s and Old Chicago’s have a few more TVs so if you’re running late you might have a better chance of getting a good seat at those places.

One last note, some of those seasonal beers will be leaving us soon so be sure to enjoy them while they last!  Enjoy the game and here’s to a Broncos win!
