You’re not a Coloradan unless you’re crazy about corn! Loveland is celebrating the golden crop with the 2015 Old Fashioned Corn Roast Festival Aug. 21 and 22. From 5-10 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, 4th Street and Railroad Avenue will be filled will all the corn-related fun that a corn-lover can handle. Here are our top five reasons why it’s worth your time attending:

  1. Corn-shucking contest

How often do you get to show off your mad corn-shucking skills to anyone other than your family at the Sunday barbecue? At 5:30 p.m. Friday, festival-goers will have the opportunity to compete against shucking pros to see how fast they can go.

  1. Corn-eating contest

Shucking not your thing? No worries, there will also be the chance to participate in the corn-eating contest. That’s right – forget about strict etiquette and social graces because at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, it only matters how many empty cobs are left sitting on your plate.

  1. Continual entertainment and vendors

During the festival hours for both days, attendees can enjoy live music from Retro Eighties Tribute Band, Soul School and Cable 10, not to mention food and vendors throughout the day. Don’t forget about all the roasted and boiled corn to purchase!

  1. Parade

Who doesn’t love a parade? At 8:30 Saturday morning, the festival parade will travel through downtown Loveland. Parade winners will be announced later that day. View the parade route and parking here.

  1. It’s FREE!!

And the best part of the festival is that you don’t even have to pay to get in! Come for the day and enjoy all the corn you can get your hands on without having to spend an arm and a leg. For more festival details, visit http://www.loveland.org/TheCornRoastFestival/.
