Show us your game face!

HCB - Game Face Contest401pxIn case you’ve been under a rock, or out of the state for a while (which shouldn’t really matter), the Denver Broncos made it to Super Bowl XLVIII!

We here at High Country Beverage can’t wait for February 2nd when the Broncos take on the Seattle Seahawks at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey!  Last making the trip to the Super Bowl in 1999, the Broncos look to bring another championship ring to Denver after a 15 year layoff.  Having beat Phillip Rivers and the San Diego Chargers in a close AFC Divisional Championship game, they followed it up with a 10 point victory over the New England Patriots in Denver last Sunday, securing their place in the 2014 Super Bowl.

While the Broncos prepare for the biggest NFL game of the year, the excitement continues to build in the air.  Orange and blue are taking over the state of Colorado, as practically every person, restaurant, and place of business, show their Bronco pride.  That being said, we are sure that many of you are beaming with team spirit and we want to reward you for showing your dedication to the Broncos!

Show us your game face!  Head over to our NoCo Nightlife Facebook page, “Like” us and find the link to the entry application.  Submit a picture showing us your best Denver Broncos game face and you could win a Coors Light leather chair (pictured above).  With a built in cooler that pulls out from under you, you’ll never have to leave your seat to grab another ice cold Coors Light, and surely won’t miss a play (or commercial)!

The lucky winner will be announced January 31st on the NoCo Nightlife Facebook page, so get your entry in sooner than later!  If you’re the winner we will contact you via the email address that you have provided, double check to make sure it’s all correct.  Best of luck to all of our entries!

New Belgium starts 2014 off with new image and new year-round beer

NB - Snapshot Wheat 3

“Same Suds, New Duds” that’s the phrase New Belgium Brewing has been using to promote their new look that hit the market this January.

If you have been around Fort Collins, or have knowledge of the craft beer industry, then you have most likely seen that highly recognizable watercolor label of a red cruiser bike sitting next to a tree.  For 22 years Ann Fitch, neighbor of Kim Jordan the founder of New Belgium, has been creating beautiful watercolor artwork that adorned the bottles of delicious New Belgium beers.  This will no longer be the case, as Ann decided to retire from commercial production.

With big shoes to fill, in steps Hatch Design of San Francisco, who will be taking over the duties from here on out.  Packaging will feature illustrations from artist Leah Giberson, which will start out as photos and are then hand painted.  With its clean and easier to read appearance New Belgium hopes the redesign will entice a new group of NB lovers in to the mix.  While the contents on the outside of the bottle have changed, New Belgium can’t stress enough that what’s inside is still the same craft beverage that we’ve all grown to love over the years.

New Belgium has also introduced its 10th new year-round beer, Snapshot, to the market this month as well.  This unfiltered wheat beer, featuring pale malts, wheat and Cascade hops, has a citrusy aroma and sweet flavors of coriander and grains of paradise.  This hazy golden treat will satisfy your taste buds upon first sip.  Begin to look for this new creation to hit shelves and taps in the very near future!

Spring seasonals are making their way to town!

While we are still months away from the first day of spring, the spring seasonals will all slowly but surely be finding their way to shelves and taps shortly.

Seasonals seem to be arriving earlier and earlier every year. And while that sometimes means we have to fight off the thoughts of cold and snowy days as the winter seasonals start showing up, the arrival of Spring seasonals has a much warmer outlook. You may have noticed that your winter warming favorites have been quietly fading away as the days have been getting longer. Don’t fret, draft lists and store shelves will soon be filled with spring time favorites to help you welcome the green grass and celebrate the extra hours of sunlight.

Maybe you already have a few favorites that you’re excited to have once again, but here is a list just in case you need a few suggestions to get started:

Alaskan Brewing Co. – Extra Special Bitter
Big Sky Brewing – Bobo’s Robust Porter
Blue Moon – Valencia Grove Amber
Boulder Beer – Mojo Risin’ Double IPA
Lagunitas – Sucks
Leinenkugel’s – Canoe Paddler
